HISTORY OF THE SHOWGIRL BOX ILLUSION
In March 2005, Nathan performed a PR stunt where he locked himself in a box for seven days with seven showgirls, suspended from the ceiling inside the Aladdin Casino (now the Planet Hollywood Casino). Shortly after the stunt, Nathan opened his own show “Nathan Burton Comedy Magic” at the V Theater inside the Aladdin Casino. For the opening of the show, Nathan showed footage from the PR stunt. The curtain then opened to reveal the very same box, where he instantly made showgirls appear.
The showgirl box has been the opening illusion of Nathan’s Las Vegas show for the past 10 years. Nathan has made several adjustments and improvements to the illusion over the years to make it more deceptive and to make the showgirls appear even faster. A custom-made motor spins the showgirl box 360 degrees along with the double curtain system which allows the illusion to be performed under any circumstance.
After several requests, Nathan has decided to make the showgirl box available for purchase to the magic community. The showgirl box is exclusively manufactured by Bill Smith Magic Ventures.
